Managing Passwords

I have spent a lot of time thinking about, talking about, even writing about password management.  I have been a big fan of using a scheme to create passwords.  The thing is, I was not perfect in using a unique password for everywhere I went.  Even though the base password I used was very good (17 upper, lower, numbers & symbols) it was still, occasionally, the same password. How do you remember your passwords?  Or have you given up and use the same password for everything?

Passwords are a pain.  And our need for passwords is growing.  Consequently, the pain is growing too.  There is a lot to say on the topic, but here are four quick tips about creating unique passwords and remembering them.

Facebook Privacy

I’m not going to delve deeply into the controversy around privacy and Facebook.  I’ll simply say that I’m not particularly happy about the erosion of privacy, but I’m not planning on quitting Facebook over it.  Facebook is where everyone is.  I think it makes sense to stay with your audience.  Zuckerberg says that Facebook will make privacy easier.  I think he’s motivated to do so, to keep Facebook viable.
